If you’ve been in the trading world for a while, you’ve probably heard a hundred different opinions on what works and what doesn’t. One person says you should stick to one strategy for life, another swears by watching Reddit alerts, and someone else is out there saying that every strategy works, just not all the time.
Sound familiar?
In this article, I want to walk you through three different, but very connected, conversations we’ve had recently in our videos. Whether you’re just starting out or feeling a bit lost from trying too many systems, these topics can help you make sense of your trading journey — from focusing on one strategy, to avoiding hype from social media, and ultimately finding a system that truly fits you.
Let’s dive in.
Video #1: Is It Smart to Focus on One Trading Strategy?
There’s a popular quote that’s been making the rounds on social media:
“100,000 indicators, 1,000 trading systems – 90% lose because they change systems every month. 10% win because they focus on one system for life.”

It’s catchy. But is it really true?
Yes and no. The idea that switching strategies too often can hurt your progress? Absolutely valid. But saying you should stick to one setup forever? That’s where things get tricky.
Here’s the truth:
- If you’re a beginner, focusing on one strategy (like covered calls) does help you build a solid foundation.
- But as your account grows or you face new market conditions, you’ll probably need to adapt.
- For larger accounts, using multiple strategies helps manage risk better and gives you flexibility across different situations.

So instead of locking yourself into a “forever setup,” think of your trading strategy like a skill tree. Start simple, grow intentionally, and evolve as needed.

Video #2: Clear Trading Strategy vs. Social Media Hype
Now let’s talk about something most traders have dealt with — getting caught up in trading groups online.

Maybe it’s Facebook, Discord, Reddit, or Telegram… They’re filled with hot tips, trade alerts, and screenshots of wins. At first, it feels exciting. But soon, it gets overwhelming.
Here’s why that’s dangerous:
- You start making decisions based on someone else’s trade idea — not your own analysis.
- You don’t know their full plan, timing, or risk tolerance.
- You end up with inconsistent results, and worse — no real way to improve because it’s not your system.
When you rely on hype, you lose control. But when you build and follow your own strategy? Even your losses teach you something.

A clear plan doesn’t just give you direction — it gives you confidence. You’ll stop chasing every alert and start trading with intention.

Video #3: Finding a Strategy That Actually Works
This next point might surprise you: every strategy works… just not all the time.

We often get questions like, “Can someone just tell me what strategy works?” And while that’s a fair question, the reality is — it depends.
Think about this:
- Some strategies win more often, but with smaller profits.
- Others win less frequently, but with bigger payoffs.

A high win-rate strategy (like selling verticals) might give you lots of small wins but occasionally hit you with a big loss. A low win-rate strategy might feel like it’s failing — until one big win covers all your previous losses and more.

So what really matters?
👉 Understanding how your strategy pays out.
👉 Adjusting your expectations.
👉 Evolving your system to match your goals and risk tolerance.
It’s not about chasing the “perfect” strategy — it’s about developing a version of your strategy that works for you.

Wrapping It All Up
If you take one thing away from this, let it be this:
Successful trading isn’t about finding one magic strategy — it’s about building your own, sticking with it long enough to learn, and being willing to evolve it over time.
Start simple. Block out the noise. Track your results. And don’t be afraid to tweak your system as you grow.
