E-Trade is another great starting platform. Although it would be my second choice at this point. Their stock price is $9.99 per trade ($7.99 if you do more than 150+ trades). However, for a beginner, I doubt you would do more than 150+ trades per quarter. Options are $9.99 + $0.75 per contract. I must say they currently do have a nice platform.
Scottrade is a good online broker for people looking to just get started. They have fairly good support team and branches around the country. The fees are $7 bucks per trade. The option rates are not the best ($7 minimum plus $1.25 per contract). However the minimum is only $500. So if you don’t have a lot of cash to spare then this could be a great starting point. Trade Station has a minimum of $500 for your starting account balance. $25,000 for pattern day trading accounts… So it may not be a great starting point if you don’t have that much money to invest. Their pricing is $5 per trade. If you do the per-share rate you can get $.01 per share for up to 500 shares.
TC2000 by Worden is my primary chart scanning tool that I use. This is the tool that you normally see me use on my daily recaps videos and screen shots.
